CHARLOTTE WENSLEY
Charlotte Wensley is a mixed media artist working in abstraction, shaped by a lifelong immersion in creative practice. Her richly layered works draw on global influences, combining colour, texture, and form to explore personal narratives and the complexity of human experience.

BACKGROUND
Charlotte is an abstract mixed-media artist
working from her bushland studio near Lake
Weyba on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Global wanderings have infused her visual
aesthetic with a love of rich colours; texture and
ornament; structures and forms; and the contrast
between natural and constructed environments.
Diversity of human experience and the reality of unique personal narratives have
always held a particular resonance for her and these thoughts are never far from her
mind as she paints.
Wensley holds a Bachelor of Fine Art & Design Technology from Leeds University (UK)
and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Art & Design).
PRACTICE
Her creative practice is primarily driven by a desire to capture moments of chance
encounter as they meet with knowledge and understanding of self, process and the
materials she’s working with and allowing a unique creative journey to unfold during
the making of each piece.
Symbolism is a recurrent theme in her work as she interprets manifestations of
landscape as a metaphor for spiritual space allowing her to explore personal narratives
as they emerge during the creative process.
She employs printmaking, collage, drawing and painting in her work creating layers of
visual texture and history on the canvas. Each artwork is a spontaneous fusion of
thoughts & ideas, process experiments and personal stories, woven in colour.
